Treiten is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.Treiten has an area of 4.7 km2 (1.8 sq mi). Of this area, 74.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 17.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 7.4% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (1.3%) is non-productive (rivers or glaciers). Treiten has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 421. As of 2007, 7.0% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 5.4%. Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (95.4%), with French being second most common ( 2.0%) and Albanian being third ( 1.3%).
