Jeonghan has spent his life with the upper hand — wealth, status, certainty. When he reunites with his cousin Iljo at their uncle’s funeral, the gulf between them is impossible to miss. Impoverished. Shunned by the family. Quietly, painfully alone.

Offering him a place to stay feels like charity. Nothing more. Then one night, Iljo leans in for a kiss — and the careful distance Jeonghan has kept between himself and softer things begins to crack.

The Unraveling

What starts as something Jeonghan can dismiss becomes something he can’t name. Iljo is timid, devoted, achingly easy to hurt. Jeonghan tells himself he’s still the one in control. He tells himself this won’t unravel him.

He’s wrong about both.

By the time he understands what Iljo has been to him all along, Iljo is already gone — and Jeonghan, who has never chased anything in his life, finds himself reaching for a ghost.
